Community Guidelines

Last updated: August 26, 2026

Outing Caddie is a shared space for a golf group: a leaderboard, a scorecard, and a chat feed the whole outing can see. These guidelines say what is and is not acceptable in that space, and what we do about it. They are part of the Terms of Service.

1. The standard

There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behavior on this Service. Trash talk about someone's tee shot is the point of a golf trip. Content that targets a person — or anyone else — is not.

Do not post:

  • Content that is unlawful, harassing, hateful, threatening, or defamatory
  • Slurs or degrading content aimed at a person or a group
  • Sexually explicit content, or any sexual content involving minors
  • Content that infringes someone else's rights, including photos of people who have not agreed to be posted
  • Impersonation of another player, an organizer, or us
  • Spam, scams, or promotion of unlawful gambling

Ordinary profanity between adults on a golf trip is not what this is about, and we do not pretend otherwise.

2. What we do about it

We use four controls, and we use all of them.

Filtering. Current iOS app versions screen outgoing chat messages for slurs and sexually explicit language before they are posted, and restrict GIF search to the "G" content rating. Like the in-app controls below, this is currently an iOS capability. Filtering is not a substitute for reporting, and it does not catch everything.

Reporting. Touch and hold any chat message and choose Report Message. Reports are reviewed and acted on within 24 hours. You can also email support@outingcaddie.app from any device.

Blocking. Touch and hold any chat message and choose Block User. That player's messages stop appearing in your chat immediately. Blocks are listed and reversible under Profile → Blocked Players. Blocking hides someone from your view of the feed; it does not notify them, and it does not remove what they have already posted for everyone else — report it if it needs removing.

Removal and ejection. An administrator can delete any message from the chat feed. Because the feed is shared across the app rather than scoped per-outing (see below), so is that ability — it is not limited to the outing an administrator organizes. We can also remove content and terminate accounts ourselves, and accounts that post objectionable content or abuse other players are ejected from the Service.

3. Two things worth knowing about how chat works

We would rather state these plainly than let you assume something friendlier:

  • Chat is currently shared across the app rather than scoped per-outing. Treat it as visible to the app's membership, not only to your outing. One consequence: an administrator who clears chat history clears it for everyone.
  • In-app reporting and blocking are currently available in the iOS app. If you are on another platform, email support@outingcaddie.app — that route reaches us from any device and is always available.

4. If you are reported

We look at what was posted and the context around it. Depending on severity we may remove the content or terminate the account. Serious cases — threats, or anything involving a minor — go straight to termination, and we disclose to law enforcement where the law requires it.

If you believe we got it wrong, email support@outingcaddie.app and say why.
